About HatYai

one of the place i love, because it has some uniqueness
but when i arrived is very hot

where is it? it's HatYai Town, Songkhla Province,Thailand

If you make it to HatYai you are off the regular tourist circuit. The city lies in the Songkhla province, 950km south from Bangkok and about 50km north of the Malaysian border.

HatYai is a large, spread out town, and relatively poor, but without any obvious signs of severe poverty (i.e. no beggars). There are good hotels (and bad), and restaurants. You might have read that there is a danger from the local Muslim separatists, but this is minimal, overall.

This is a large, open air Wat,  6kms NE of the city centre, on a hill top, inside the Hatyai municipal park, centred on a large golden Buddha statue, which looks to be 20m high.  People come for a day out of the town, and make a visit to the Wat, and return home.

there are hundreds, maybe thousands of Buddha statues
